How it works

Access levels

Who can see and change what in a clan, and how Clan_Bot works out your level.

The three levels

Everyone in a clan has one of three levels: Member, Manager or Admin. Each level includes everything the levels below it can do.

How your level is decided

Your level comes from your in-game clan rank:

  • the clan Owner is always Admin;
  • ranks at or above the clan's Admin minimum rank are Admin (Deputy Owner by default);
  • ranks at or above the Manager minimum rank are Manager (the Admin rank by default);
  • everyone else is a Member.

A clan Admin can change both minimum ranks in the clan settings, and can give a single member Manager or Admin access on top of their rank. A grant can only raise someone's level, never lower it, and it is removed automatically if that member leaves the clan.

Your level follows your rank, so a promotion or demotion in game changes it after the next clan sync. If you have several linked accounts in the same clan, the highest level among them counts.

A verified account is required

Clan_Bot only knows your rank once your RuneScape account is linked to you and is an active member of the clan. Until then you have no access, whatever your Discord roles. Discord roles and server permissions never give access to clan tools.

What each level can do

LevelCan
MemberSee the clan's members, events, citadel and XP gains; RSVP to events; see their own rank progress.
ManagerAward points; manage citadel marks and the reset time; create, edit and delete events and mark attendance; edit members (fealty, joined date, promotion exclusion, notes); run promotion checks; view settings, promotion rules and point types; download the clan's data as CSV (Data export). Managers also see extra member details, such as data fetch rate.
AdminChange clan settings, promotion rules, point types and webhooks; grant or remove access; force-validate members; read the clan's change history and admin-only notes; set the clan's default list layouts. Admins' data exports also include the webhooks table.

The same levels apply in Discord and on the website. In Discord, most admin tools are under /clanadmin; see the command reference for what each command needs.

Change history

Changes made by Managers and Admins (settings, rules, webhooks, access, points, member edits) are recorded with who made them and when. Admins can read the history in /clanadmin. Note text and webhook addresses are never written to it.
