How it works
Promotion rules
How Clan_Bot decides which members are due a rank change, from the rules your clan sets.
Recommendations only
Clan_Bot can't change anyone's rank in game. It recommends rank changes; your staff make them in RuneScape, and Clan_Bot sees the new rank on the next clan sync.
Rules
A clan Admin sets up one rule per rank, on the website's Promotions page or with /clanadmin promotions. A rule is a list of requirements, and a member meets the rule only when they meet every requirement in it. Recruit and Owner can never be the target of a rule.
| Requirement | Measures |
|---|---|
| Clan kills | Total clan kills, from the hiscores |
| Clan XP | Total clan XP earned, from the hiscores |
| Fealty | Fealty level (1 to 3), set by managers |
| Days in clan | Days since the member joined |
| Days at rank | Days since their last rank change (or since joining, if their rank never changed) |
| Total points | All awarded points, plus clan XP converted to points if the clan sets Clan XP per point |
| Point type value | The total of one point type |
| Point type count | How many times one point type was awarded |
| Last active | Days since the member last gained XP (at most, not at least) |
Every requirement is a minimum, except Last active: the member meets it when they gained XP within that many days (1 to 365). Use it to keep a rank for members who still play, for example "Last active within 14 days" on Captain. With Demotions on, a member who stops playing stops meeting the rule and is recommended a lower rank. Unlike Inactive after (days) (below), which leaves inactive members out of every rule, Last active can differ from rank to rank.
Last active comes from the same date as the Members page: a rise in skill XP on a player update or in clan XP on a clan sync. Members with a private RuneMetrics profile still count as active while their clan XP goes up.
A requirement on a point type that has been turned off is ignored, rather than being impossible to meet.
How a member is evaluated
Rules are not cumulative. Clan_Bot checks every rule and recommends the highest rank whose rule the member meets, even if they don't meet the rules for ranks in between. Those in-between ranks are listed as skipped, with what is missing, so staff can see the jump.
- Meets a rule for a rank above their own: a promotion is recommended.
- Their best rule is their own rank: nothing happens.
- Their best rule is a lower rank, or they meet no rule at all: a demotion is recommended, but only if the clan has Demotions turned on. Meeting no rule means a demotion to Recruit.
Who is left out
- Staff: members ranked above the highest rank that has a rule are never promoted or demoted. If your highest rule is for General, everyone from Admin up is left alone.
- Excluded members: a manager can mark a member "Excluded from promotion". They are still shown, as excluded, with the rank they would have got.
- Inactive members: unless Include inactive members is on, members who haven't gained XP for the clan's Inactive after (days) setting are skipped.
Where to see it
- Managers: the Rank changes page on the website, or
/promotioncheck. - Any member: their own progress towards the next rank on the website dashboard, or
/rankprogress. Managers also see it in each member's details.
